Pariah focuses on a robust immersive storyline that weaves survival elements into the traditional run-and-gun style of first-person action games. Not straying too far from their roots, Digital Extremes has built Pariah with the latest version of the technologically powerful Unreal engine by Epic Games, hence the wondrous graphics and finely-tuned gameplay. The story focuses on Jack Mason, a burned-out doctor with no will to live; that is, until he nearly dies in a transport crash. Now he and his infected patient are stranded deep within the most vicious prison sectors of a wasteland called Earth. In 16 hours, an orbital platform will initiate a total biohazard containment procedure: 50-megaton yield, detonated above sea level, to cleanse the contamination. Pariah features a brilliant single and two-player split-screen experience where Earth is transformed into a prison planet, and a startlingly good multiplayer lark for up to 16 players with the use of the System Link. Modes include Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Siege, Team Deathmatch and Front Line Assault, along with a plethora of weapons, tools, upgrades and assault vehicles. Pariah also includes a Map Editor function for extra longevity.
